Man accused of robbing multiple Aldi stores across Michigan

PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — A man who has been accused of robbing several Aldi stories across Michigan is facing “multiple felony charges” after being arrested in South Dakota, police say.

Kaleb Michael Schaffer, 34, faces at least three counts of armed robbery and is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail without bond, according to the Portage Department of Public Safety.

Police say Shaffer was the man who walked into a Portage Aldi grocery store on S. Westnedge Avenue near E Milham Avenue on Dec. 10, asking to speak to the manager before implying he was armed and demanding money, police said. He was caught on surveillance camera wearing a mask and a hat pulled low. Then he did it again on Jan. 18, police say.
