Dispute over how much Leon County residents pay for fire department likely headed to private judge

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – After back-and-forth between the Tallahassee City Commission and Leon County Commission, it appears a private judge will determine how much county residents will pay in fire fees.

The fee is a tax that both in-town and out-of-town residents pay so that the Tallahassee Fire Department responds to all of Leon County. The county commission agreed to a partial fee increase, but told the city commission that they wouldn’t pay the full asking price.

The county government has a contract with the city government where TFD responds to fires both inside and outside of city limits…
