CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A head-on collision earlier this month has now claimed two lives, and police suspect impaired driving may have played a role.
The deadly crash happened before 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, in the 5900 block of Monroe Road in southeast Charlotte. A Honda Civic collided head-on with a Charlotte Water truck, leaving both vehicles heavily damaged, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police
The driver of the Civic, Christina Whitman, 55, and her passenger, Theodore McCorkle, 64, were both rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, McCorkle was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. CMPD said Whitman died from her injuries eight days later, on June 20.
