Albuquerque man pleads no contest to charges in connection to 2022 murder

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man is facing more than a decade behind bars after taking a plea deal in a 2022 murder case. Luis Sotelo-Carrasco pleaded no contest to second degree murder and tampering with evidence.

Man accused of killing girlfriend’s father following an argument

According to the criminal complaint, officers were dispatched to a home near Juan Tabo and Southern back in September of 2022. When they arrived, they found Victor Lopez-Quiroz in the street dead. He had been shot in the neck. Police said a witness told them her boyfriend, Lopez-Quiroz, had been killed by her ex-boyfriend, Sotelo-Carrasco.

Sotelo-Carrasco is facing up to 11 years behind bars when sentenced. A sentencing date has not been set…
