BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The California City facility, originally a federal detention center before becoming a state prison, is set to temporarily reopen as a federal detention center.
This move comes after a preliminary agreement between CoreCivic and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which provides initial funding for the reopening.
