CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A startling statistic for firefighters is that they are 9% more likely to develop cancer, and 14% more likely to die from cancer than the general population, according to data from the National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety.
That’s a big reason why the Charleston Firefighter’s Association is providing free cancer screenings for firefighters and their families.
