South Charlotte mural pays tribute to two Latina girls who died by suicide

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A new mural in South Charlotte is honoring the lives of two young Latina girls who took their lives by suicide. Their families say, they were bullied because of their immigration status.

A local artist is behind the project that is sending a powerful message: Words matter.

In February, a Texas community bonded in grief over the loss of 11-year-old Jocelyn Rojo Carranza. The young girl died by suicide after she was bullied over her family’s immigration status. The story made national headlines…
