Brandy and Monica kicking off ‘The Boy Is Mine’ tour in Cincinnati

(NEXSTAR) – Twenty-seven years after the release of their song “The Boy Is Mine,” Brandy and Monica are planning to continue their fierce debate over whom this boy actually belongs to.

The two recording artists behind the 1998 hit single are coming together for a 24-city “The Boy Is Mine” tour, which is scheduled to kick off on Oct. 16 in Cincinnati.

“They were trying to get us to do a tour since ’98 and it just finally felt like the right time,” Brandy said during a Tuesday appearance on “CBS Mornings.”

Brandy and Monica also announced the tour on social media via a dramatic short film in which both women are locked up in a soundproof (maybe?) asylum and forbidden to harmonize or duet with each other. By the end of the video, of course, the pair had somehow broken free.
