CLEVELAND (WJW) — On Monday night, an explosion tore through the Garden Valley Apartments on Cleveland’s East Side, triggering a massive fire that engulfed multiple units. Five people were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, and more than 100 residents were forced to flee their homes.
Now, 48 hours later, new details are emerging about the extent of the damage, the families affected, and the ongoing investigation.

Cleveland City Councilman Richard Starr told FOX 8 News that one of the victims is a father who suffered burns across 90 percent of his body and is currently in a coma. He said his two young children were also severely burned. All three remain in critical condition.
“It’s a whole family, fighting for their livelihood,” Starr said. “And it’s just a reminder that there are some things you just can’t take for granted.”…
