ANNA Shelter, PSP rescue 50 animals from alleged neglect, abandonment

(WJET/WFXP)– The ANNA Shelter is asking the community for their help after rescuing 50 animals with serious medical issues from an alleged abandonment and neglect situation over several days.

Personnel from the ANNA Shelter and Equine Center, along with Pennsylvania State Police, rescued 26 cats, four dogs, 10 horses and 10 cattle from a local farm, each facing a long recovery.

ANNA Shelter Director Ruth Thompson said while the animals are having their immediate care needs met, some of them are not out of the woods yet.

Thompson said most of the cats have severe dental disease, are loaded with ear mites and parasites, and are underweight, while the horses and cattle face a longer recovery due to damage to their feet which will require care from specialists.

No charges or arrests have been announced at this time as police continue to investigate…
