GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — After a pump failurestopped Richmond Park Pool in Grand Rapids from opening earlier this month, officials say the pump has been replaced and the pool is nearly ready for swimmers.
The pool will open at noon on Thursday, the city said.
It was originally supposed to open June 6, along with the city’s other two pools, but maintenance teams discovered a pump failure that could not be repaired. Instead, they had to order a new pump and drain the pool.

Crews started installing the new equipment last week, then filled the pool. Because of its size, that process took several days, the city said. Staff members then balanced chemicals, tested the water and gained approval from the health department. Finally, lifeguards and support staff went through training.
“We’re excited to finally be able to open the pool,” said Laura Cleypool, interim parks and recreation director, in a statement. “We know the wait has been frustrating for pool-goers, especially over the high-heat weekend that we just experienced.”…
