25 years after closing in Cedar Rapids, a favorite Iowa-based fast food chain has returned to the Corridor! B-Bop’s is BACK!
Where is it?
The Cedar Rapids B-Bop’s is at 5340 Buffalo Ridge Drive NE, right across from the Fountains near the Fleet Farm Gas Mart. The building is brand new, with construction officially beginning back in late November.
Didn’t Cedar Rapids used to have a B-Bop’s?
Yes! In fact, there were two of them at one point. According to a November article from CBS 2:
“…the Blairs Ferry Road restaurant closed its doors back in 2000. That was also around the same time when the Williams Boulevard Southwest restaurant closed its doors.”
What does B-Bop’s have on its menu?
The menu at B-Bop’s is full of classic fast food items. They have a number of different burgers and cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets, fries, and chocolate milkshakes. There are a few Midwest favorites on there, too, including a sloppy joe slider, a pork tenderloin, and chili cheese fries.
If you’re feeling especially hungry, you can take the B-Bop’s “Belly Buster Challenge” at their Grimes location on Mondays and Tuesdays. Contestants have 30 minutes to finish everything below:
- 4 Double Bacon Cheeseburgers with ALL the toppings
- 2 large fries
- 1 large chocolate shake
- 1 large soft drink (of your choosing)
- 1 2-ounce shot of ranch dressing (must be done last)
The cost to take the challenge is $50 and you are required to register HERE at least two days in advance. If you complete the challenge, you win a limited-edition B-Bop’s t-shirt, a B-Bop’s gift card, a shout out on social media, and your $50 back. It does NOT look easy!
How many B-Bop’s locations does Iowa have?
The addition of the Cedar Rapids B-Bop’s means there are now 13 in the state, but the Cedar Rapids restaurant is the only one here in Eastern Iowa. The rest are in Des Moines, West Des Moines, Urbandale, Waukee, Ames, Ankeny, Altoona, Windsor Heights, and Grimes…
