Amarillo College is cutting ties with Sharpened Iron Studios, ending a once-promising partnership after what college leaders described as years of unmet expectations and broken commitments.
During its regular meeting on June 24, the Amarillo College Board of Regents voted to terminate the studio’s lease, following nearly two hours of closed-door deliberation. The board cited Sharpened Iron’s failure to meet the terms of its agreement and directed the college’s legal team to formally notify the company and take any further legal action necessary to protect the institution’s interests.
“I’m disappointed that we’ve come to this place in the relationship,” said Regent Johnny Mize during open session. “We all had big dreams for what might happen within our Sharpened Iron partnership, and it hasn’t materialized.”…
