On Juneteenth, mass shooting threats targeting a Jewish center in San Antonio were made, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD). The threats caused police presence to increase and the Jewish Community Center to temporarily close.
An individual believed to be connected to the mass shooting threats is in custody, according to a statement from FBI San Antonio. Officials said the individual was located in another state and the investigation is continuing to determine the “veracity of the threat information.” Here’s what we know:
Mass shooting threats to Jewish community
SAPD was notified by the San Antonio FBI Office about the threats to commit a mass shooting at a Jewish facility on the morning of Thursday, June 19, according to a release. FBI San Antonio stated it received information overnight indicating an individual may have been planning the mass shooting at a Jewish Cultural Enrichment Center.
The FBI San Antonio Joint Terrorism Task Force began working with the SAPD to investigate the potential threat.
