Major local landlord settles suit over fees on service members

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A company that manages several local apartment complexes is settling claims it imposed illegal fees on service members who had to end their leases due to relocation orders.

The Justice Department says Greystar Real Estate Partners will pay over $1.4 million to resolve allegations that it violated the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.

The company manages several local rental complexes, including:

  • Grand Oaks at Crane Creek Apartments, 680 Crane Creek Drive
  • Mason Augusta, 101 Pine Forest Road
  • The Lofts at King Mill, 1701 Goodrich St.
  • The Heron at River Island Apartments, 600 Grand Oaks Way
  • The Premier, 1065 Williamsburg Way
