VANDER, N.C. (WNCN) — While responding to a fire call on Halibut Street Wednesday afternoon, a firefighter was injured after falling 21 feet to the ground.
According to Vander Fire Chief Richard Bradshaw, the fall happened at a house on Halibut Street when the Vander Fire Department was called after lightning struck the house.
Chief Bradshaw said, when teams arrived, crews began an investigation of the home when a strong odor was smelled. The teams began to investigate the attic, where they found a fire had started. Chief Bradshaw said the firefighter fell in the process of fighting the fire…
