Is your commute about to change? This Grand Rapids bridge will close for 9 months

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A bridge that crosses over U.S. 131 in Grand Rapids will be closed for nine months next year for a $30 million reconstruction project.

The state plans to replace the east section of the Martin Luther King Jr. Street bridge from the northbound U.S. 131 ramps to the east end of the bridge, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced this week.

While the bridge will be fully closed during the project, reconstruction will only take place on the east end…
