Vodka drinker arrested after causing disturbance at local hotel

A Lady Lake man was arrested for trespassing after refusing to leave the Microtel Inn when he was asked to go for causing a disturbance.

Officers responded to the Microtel Inn & Suites, located at 850 S U.S. Hwy. 27/441, regarding a man causing a disturbance in the lobby at 8:25 p.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Dispatch advised that 42-year-old James Daniel Whitlock was punching the counter and disturbing other guests.

Upon arrival, the officers found Whitlock. He had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person and was unsteady on his feet while slurring his words. He was told that staff was asking for him to be trespassed from the property, the report said.

Whitlock was then escorted to his room and assisted in gathering his belongings. Inside the room, there was an empty bottle of McCormick vodka and two full bottles in the mini fridge. When he was done getting his things, he was taken back to the lobby, the report said…
