ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The City of Roanoke has announced construction will begin on Gainsboro Road from Salem Avenue to Orange Avenue on Monday, June 30.
According to the release, the construction will improve safety, accessibility and mobility by including new pedestrian signals, curb extensions, high-visibility crosswalks, ADA-compliant sidewalks, a dedicated mobility track, and added on-street parking.

There have also been recent improvements at the Orange Avenue intersection by adding a state-of-the-art pedestrian and bicycle detection system, according to officials. They say this will help people easily cross the road to the YMCA, Washington Park Pool, or close neighborhoods.
During the project, Gainsboro Road will stay open, although their may be lane closures and delays during the construction process…
