$1 million artificial turf field approved for Hidden Valley High School

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Changes are on the horizon for Hidden Valley High School. The Roanoke County School Board approved a $1 million project to replace the school’s grass field with artificial turf after a 4-1 vote June 17.

David Linden was the only school board member to vote against the project, saying he believes the current grass field is in great shape. But board member Cheryl Facciani told WDBJ7 many parents have expressed concerns over the current grass field’s condition.

“We’ve had multiple injuries, its just really hard. We have cool grass right now and the only other school with cool grass is Pulaski. So, by the time it’s ready to be used, it’s not really in ideal condition, and I will say our athletic director did everything he could to get that field as best as he could, but at the end of the day its grass,” said Facciani…
