CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — New national grant funding to the City of Cedar Rapids helped plant more than two dozen trees on Mays Island. Leaders also cut the ribbon on new city signage.
After living out-of-town for most of her adult life, Jennifar Bassett said she’s back to living in Cedar Rapids after growing up there. Now, she’s the program manager for the Downtown District, the group that’s working to activate the area and improve connectivity.
“I’ve watched Cedar Rapids grow over the last 25 years, even through some of the hard times, the derecho, the floods,” Bassett said. “So seeing the city grow, being back and just seeing how much has happened in the three years that I’ve been here, it’s extraordinary.”…
