On June 23, 2025, deputies with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported disturbance at a residence on CR 2316 in Hopkins County involving 54-year-old Sulphur Springs resident, Charles Leroy Plunkett.
According to the arrest affidavit, Deputy Hollon and Sgt. Fisher made contact with Plunkett, who claimed his brother-in-law had charged at him and accused him of not helping around the house. Plunkett told deputies that after a verbal confrontation, the situation escalated and he defended himself by striking the other party with a drill in the face.
Deputies interviewed the alleged victim, who had visible injuries consistent with being struck in the face. He stated that Plunkett had become aggressive after an argument about household responsibilities.
