New Indigenous signage unveiled at Glen Alps Trailhead honors Dena’ina heritage

New signage is now up at the Glen Alps Trailhead on Flattop Mountain, marking a significant step in honoring Alaska’s Indigenous heritage.

Members of the Native Village of Eklutna helped unveil the new sign during an Indigenous renaming ceremony held Wednesday night.

The peak formerly known as Tanaina Peak will now be called by its Dena’ina name, Qin Chegi, which translates to “ridge where we cry.”…
