Man police say escaped Anchorage reentry center previously convicted in 2022 assault case

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A man who walked away from a residential reentry center in Anchorage on Wednesday was previously convicted in a 2022 assault case that originally included two counts of attempted murder, according to court documents.

30-year-old Sterling Klippenstein is wanted on a felony warrant after authorities say he left the Cordova Center without authorization around 8 a.m.

He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants and a gray beanie, and carrying a white bag, according to Anchorage police.

Court documents show Klippenstein was charged in 2022 with multiple felonies stemming from a violent incident in Palmer, including two counts of attempted murder and three counts of first-degree assault. Those charges were later dismissed by prosecutors…
