1 hurt, multiple homes and vehicles damaged in McDowell County storms

MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — Nearly a dozen homes were damaged, several vehicles destroyed, and one person was hurt after a round of severe thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon, McDowell County Emergency Management said.

After a preliminary damage assessment of the June 25 storms, emergency officials found that trees had damaged 11 residential structures, and one person was hurt after a tree fell on a vehicle along Burma Road.

Emergency officials said most of the property damage was concentrated along a line from Stacy Hill Road to Deacon Drive, including Burma Road East and Paradise Circle in Nebo. Isolated damage was documented in the Glenwood, Sugar Hill, Old Fort, and Hankins communities…
