Shots fired into home with child inside; 20 casings found

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville police are investigating a shooting incident in which multiple rounds were fired into an occupied east Asheville apartment late Tuesday night.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 11:53 p.m. on June 24 at an apartment complex on Future Drive. When they arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene.

Police discovered an apartment had been struck by bullets and contacted the occupants, who included a young child, according to a news release from the Asheville Police Department. Officers found damage to a wall, a kitchen cabinet and a second-story window. Outside the residence, police recovered 20 shell casings directly in front of the unit…
