Man arrested after standoff with BPD in east Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A 41-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon following a standoff with police in east Bakersfield. Alejandro Leon faces charges related to allegedly assaulting a family member.

The incident unfolded just before 3 p.m. when officers responded to the 2900 block of Baylor Street regarding a welfare check on Leon. Although his parents exited the house, Leon refused to come out, leading to a standoff with BPD SWAT.

Eventually, officers entered the home and arrested Leon. A man was seen on a gurney being taken into an ambulance. No further information was provided.

The investigation is ongoing.
