Amber Alert Issued for Idaho Teens Believed to be Headed to FLDS Community

Monteview, Idaho – An Amber Alert has been issued for two teenagers, 13-year-old Allen Larand Fischer and 15-year-old Rachelle Leray Fischer, who were reported missing from their Monteview home on Sunday. Authorities believe the siblings may be traveling to an FLDS (Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) group in Trenton, Utah.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the children may have willingly left due to their religious beliefs, having previously resided in Trenton. Their mother, Elizabeth Roundy, a former FLDS member who has sole custody of the children, expressed her devastation and fears for their safety.

Roundy believes the children may have been influenced by recent pronouncements from imprisoned FLDS leader Warren Jeffs. Holding Out HELP, a non-profit organization supporting those leaving polygamous communities, stated that Jeffs’ recent directives urge followers to return their children to the church to prepare for the end of times.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, working with the FBI, has narrowed down the timeframe of the children’s disappearance to between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. local time on Sunday. It is currently unknown whether the children have left the immediate area. This case also raises concerns about the siblings’ older sister, Elintra Dee Fischer, 18, who has been missing since January 2023.

Allen was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans, and Rachelle was last seen wearing a green dress. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Allen and Rachelle Fischer is urged to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office immediately.
