MEMPHIS, Tenn. – New Tennessee laws take effect next week, and more than 70 of them impact education. Some will make changes to how school boards operate, others increase punishments for students who harm or threaten to harm their classmates.
“We need it. Our babies need it. They’re struggling,” said Joshlyn Nelson, a parent of two young children. “It’s tremendously dangerous. So with any type of consequences and punishments and actions being taken to correct the wrongfulness of a child, I totally agree with it.”
