Ceres Officer Suffers Non-Life-Threatening Injury as Service Weapon Discharges at Junior High School

A routine afternoon took an unexpected turn at Blaker-Kinder Junior High School’s parking lot in Ceres, California, when a School Resource Officer experienced a firearm mishap. The Ceres Police Department reported that the officer’s holstered weapon discharged due to what is believed to be a malfunction. This incident occurred on June 24, at approximately 12:50 p.m., at the junior high school located on 1601 Kinser Road.

The officer, whose identity has not been disclosed, was wounded in her leg and subsequently transported to a hospital to receive medical treatment. The injury was described as non-life-threatening. Fortunately, with summer school having wrapped up for the day, and only a limited number of students and staff on site, no one else was harmed during the event.
