Conviction upheld for man sentenced in 2017 Effingham murder

EFFINGHAM, Ga. (WSAV) — The Supreme Court of Georgia has upheld the conviction of Tony Arnsdorff.

In 2019, Arnsdorff was convicted and sentenced to life without parole plus 15 years in the 2017 death of Courtney Wells in Effingham County. A jury convicted Arnsdorff of 11 counts, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and concealing the death of another.

Arnsdorff filed a motion for a new trial, which was denied. He then moved to set aside the order due to a delay in notification, which was granted, but his subsequent appeal was dismissed.
