MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Safe Haven, a day shelter run by Porchlight, is celebrating 30 years of service in Madison — a milestone marked by lasting impact on the lives of people experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges.
For Lilly Jefferson, the anniversary comes with a life-changing step: moving into one of Safe Haven’s limited permanent housing units with her emotional support dog.
“I heard of it like when I was 17 and then they said that I wasn’t old enough to come yet,” Jefferson said. “Because I have been homeless a really long time. And once I turned 18, I was finally able to come. And I finally came, and they just helped me with everything that I needed.”…
