The team at Stray Rescue of St. Louis came to the rescue on Tuesday of five puppies that had been living in the basement of an abandoned building. The puppies had been overheating and were showing signs of heat exhaustion. The little ones were in grave danger of losing their lives if help didn’t arrive immediately.
As has been common knowledge in the area, Stray Rescue’s Chief Life Saving Officer, Donna Lochmann’s office is on the streets of St. Louis, and she will go almost everywhere she deems necessary to find a stray and save their life. She’s best known by her first name, and Donna hasn’t slowed down in 25 years.
A message was received about five puppies in distress. With the help of local police officers, Donna and the rescue team were able to convince the owner to surrender the puppies. The little ones had been drooling and vomiting as a result of the intense heat. The air inside of the building was stifling hot and stagnant. The puppies would not have survived much longer.
With urgent medical care, the puppies are making a remarkable recovery. They are now ready to leave the rescue organization and go to foster homes…
