Wolf Road Shoppers Park to welcome new spice retailer

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — After closing its Stuyvesant Plaza store in February, Penzeys Spices has announced it will be moving into a storefront at Wolf Road Shoppers Park. The announcement comes after the shopping park made over $1 million in beautification and landscape upgrades.

Penzeys Spices will open in a 3,100 square-foot space near Professor Java’s Coffee Sanctuary. The store plans to open in the late summer or early fall. Penzeys Spices offers a wide variety of premium spices from around the world.

“We are thrilled to secure Penzeys as the first notable and popular tenant following the ongoing series of improvements to Wolf Road Park,” The Swyer Companies President Ed Swyer said. “Penzeys’ tenancy is the first step in building a robust and exciting new lifestyle shopping center along Wolf Road, the downtown of the Capital District.”

The Swyer Companies owned Stuyvesant Plaza for more than six decades before a joint venture with WS Development, a minority partner for ownership and management of the plaza. As for Penzeys Spices, they were established in 1987 as a catalogue business in Wisconsin before growing to have several dozen retail stores.
