GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Two men accused of conspiring to murder a third man in Grand Rapids in 2023 have been ordered to stand trial.
After the fourth day of a preliminary hearing, a judge on Friday decided there was enough evidence to send Tyriq Bettison and Dominike Sterling’s case to trial, an attorney told News 8.
Sterling represented himself during Friday’s proceedings, though there was an attorney on hand to advise him.
The co-defendants are charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the death of Darryl Yarber, who was shot to death Nov. 6, 2023. Investigators say Bettison was a passenger in Yarber’s car that day and told Yarber to go to the Burton Heights neighborhood. Once there, investigators say, Sterling walked up and shot Yarber repeatedly, killing him.
Bettison and Sterling were arraigned in January of this year. On the first day of their preliminary hearing in March, a witness testified they were upset with Yarber because he allegedly “ratted” Sterling out years before in a bank robbery case…
