Retired WDIA announcer turns 100

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One of Memphis’ pioneers in the radio industry has hit a major life milestone. Ford Nelson, known as one of the pioneering voices of Memphis Gospel radio, turns 100 years old.

“It’s just a pleasure still having him here to have all his jokes and hear everything he’s got to say,” said Janet Nelson-Singleton, Ford Nelson’s Daughter.
