STAPLETON, Ala. (WKRG) — A late-night, high-speed chase in Baldwin County on Wednesday ended with a deputy crashing his patrol unit in a ditch and a motorcyclist on the run.

It all happened around 10 p.m. in the middle of a heavy downpour, when a Baldwin County Sheriff’s deputy tried to pull over a person on a motorcycle.
Instead, the driver took off speeding north on Highway 59 through Stapleton in what the Sheriff describes as a high speed chase.
“The road conditions, as you know, last night were bad because of the weather,” Sheriff Anthony Lowery said. “Unfortunately, the deputy lost control of his vehicle to strike … a power pole.”…
