Drug Education Council raises awareness about date rape drug

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – With summer time in full swing, the Drug Education Council is warning people about a date rape drug called “water” which is made with GHB that can have dangerous effects for those who take it.

“Those drugs cause you to have what we call a drug induced amnesia where you don’t remember what happened for a period of time and you’re kind of incapacitated for a bit and so people can be assaulted, raped, taken advantage of,” said Virginia Guy with the Drug Education Council.
