OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Three new pedestrian hybrid beacons (PHBs) are being installed along State Road 200 to help people cross the busy roadway more safely, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
The new signals will be located near:
- Ocean Buffet, between SW 35th Terrace and SW 34th Avenue
- Campus USA Credit Union, between SW 32nd Avenue and SW 26th Street
- Marion Technical College, between SW 12th Avenue and SW 10th Avenue
The PHBs remain dark until activated by a pedestrian. Once the button is pressed, the signal flashes yellow, then turns solid red, prompting drivers to stop so pedestrians can cross safely. The signals are expected to be fully operational later this year.
These improvements are part of a larger FDOT project enhancing safety and traffic flow on SR 200 from east of I-75 to U.S. 301/U.S. 441 in Ocala…
