Warning for those who leave their animals in cars this summer

EUGENE, Ore. — With Summer in full swing and temperatures rising so does the danger surrounding children and pets being left in hot cars.

Children and animals can suffer from heatstroke and can die from being left in cars for even a short amount of time.

According to the Eugene Police Department, leaving a child or pet in your car in 90 degree weather is already dangerous but after 10 minutes a car can raise up to 109 degrees. Even in 70 degree heat a car after 10 minutes can get up to 89 degrees.
