Seattle man sentenced to 5 years for role in international drug smuggling conspiracy

SEATTLE — A 56-year-old U.S. citizen was sentenced to five years in prison by a U.S. District Court in Seattle for his involvement in an international drug smuggling conspiracy, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Curtis McDaniel, who was arrested at a Tukwila motel, has been in custody since June 5, 2024, when law enforcement executed multiple search and arrest warrants.

The DEA said U.S. District Judge Tana Lin sentenced McDaniel to five years in prison followed by four years of supervised release. Judge Lin also highlighted the significant impact of McDaniel’s distribution of methamphetamine and cocaine, noting these substances were the second and third most common in overdose deaths in King County in 2024…
