Weather alert issued for Buncombe, Haywood counties

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Storms began developing again across the Asheville area Friday afternoon, prompting the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg to issue a Special Weather Statement at 3:21 p.m.

According to Doppler radar, a strong thunderstorm was located about 11 miles northeast of Waynesville, or roughly 6 miles north of Clyde. The storm was nearly stationary.
