Buffalo school bus cameras show fewer illegal passes, but 34,000 tickets issued

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — WIVB News 4 has been tracking the number of violations recorded for passing a stopped school bus since the program was implemented back in October 2024. According to BusPatrol, the company providing the cameras on each school bus, violations trended down in the second half of the year.

News 4 last examined these statistics in February. At that time, 23,000 tickets had been issued to drivers for illegally passing a school bus.

As of this week, a total of 34,000 ticket have been handed out — an increase of 11,000 in just the past four months…
