Many throughout the community have said this is a problem that needs to be solved.
“We’ve seen 15, 17, you guys have seen the arrests of these young offenders,” Capt. Jeremy Webb, FWPD, said. “It’s a community problem that we’ve got to get a handle on. I mean, kids are out of school, people are active, it’s beautiful out, people are more mobile, if you see something, say something.”
Mayor Sharon Tucker also expresses that she is concerned with the recent youth violence as well. In a statement, she stated, “My overarching concern is that there is too much youth violence in Fort Wayne and too many young people engaging in criminal activity. We’ve had several individuals between the ages of 17-19 arrested in connection with homicides inside city limits in 2025, and we’ve had youth lose their lives. We cannot stand for this type of behavior. We must come together as a community to find solutions.”…
