Madera County Sheriff deputies now have more protection thanks to donation

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Deputies with the Madera County Sheriff’s Office now have more protection, thanks to a donation by the sheriff’s foundation.

Every deputy in the sheriff’s office’s patrol division will now be equipped with newly issued ballistic shields. A total of 70 shields were purchased, extending protection not only to patrol deputies but also to several of their specialty units.

The sheriff’s office said the shields are lighter and are more mobile. The shields are designed for critical situations like vehicle extractions, combative individuals or barricaded suspects.
