Six recruits were sworn in as officers of the Jersey City Police Department during a ceremony at City Hall Council Chambers on Tuesday.
Mayor Steven M. Fulop, Public Safety Director James Shea, Police Director Tawana Moody, and Police Chief Robert Kearns presided over the ceremony. Since 2013, Jersey City has hired more than 700 officers, making it the largest municipal police department in New Jersey.
“Despite facing our share of challenges, we are still light years ahead of where we were in 2013,” said Mayor Fulop. “These newly sworn officers exemplify the commitment, resilience, and desire to serve their community.”…
