Syphilis cases in Kalamazoo County remain consistent with last year’s numbers

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — After years of widespread cases for some sexually transmitted infections – both nationally and locally- Kalamazoo County health professionals say numbers this year look more promising.

In just four years, from 2018 to 2022, Michigan saw a 203% increase in syphilis cases for women ages 15-45, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), which was an upward trend that could be seen nationwide.
