LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The Louisville Metro Police Department is warning about a trend in Louisville of young kids running around with masks on and carrying toy guns. Police say the fake guns look almost identical to real firearms.
That trend is something the staff at the Blueprint 502, an organization that provides programming for children, teenagers, and young adults, can verify themselves.
“We had a situation on our Safe Summer kickoff event on June 13th where a couple of community kids did try to bring those guns to our event,” Marcus Poyntz, Blueprint 502’s chief operating officer, commented. “Some of these toys do look real, and sometimes those things can be taken seriously. You don’t want the wrong people to think that they are guns and, you know, situations can happen from that.”…
