MEMPHIS, Tenn. — HIV infection rates continue to plague Memphis and Shelby County, leaving many wondering what’s being done to slow down the spread of the virus.
It’s a dubious distinction that local health experts say has got to change: Shelby County has the second-highest HIV infection rate among metropolitan areas in the United States.
It’s a problem Shelby County Health Director Dr. Michelle Taylor has talked about many times with Your News Leader in recent years.
