A Florida resident is facing federal charges for allegedly mailing a threatening letter with white powder to New York Attorney General Letitia James, according to the Department of Justice. The letter, sent in February 2024, was believed to simulate a biological threat.
The suspect, 63-year-old Henry Garcia of Vero Beach, was indicted after authorities determined the powder, though nonhazardous, was meant to intimidate. Federal prosecutors condemned the act as a serious threat to public officials and vowed aggressive prosecution.
